The Casements Built in 1910, the former winter home of John D. Rockefeller was purchased from it's former owner in 1918 after the oil magnate found that the Ormond Hotel was overcharging him because of his wealth. Today the site serves as a cultural center, the home of two museums and hosts many festivals, concerts and other events. Photo Galleries: |
Fast Fact: Once the richest man in the world, Rockefeller was a great philanthropist. Among his many achievements, he founded the University of Chicago, and the Rockefeller University which focuses on research in bio-medicine and claims connection to 23 Nobel laureates. |
